Our mission is to provide high-quality animal-assisted services utilizing a healing connection with animals to empower growth, foster wellness and enrich quality of life for the individuals we serve.

Founded officially in 2024, Stable Steps has been training and preparing horses for therapeutic work since 2021. We are now prepared to partner with our small, but growing herd to support the needs of our surrounding community.

Our team consists of experienced equine professionals and support staff who are passionate about what they do. We pride ourselves on our knowledge and expertise in the industry, and we are always here to help answer your questions.

Stable Steps: Therapeutic Equine and Animal-Assisted services, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that pairs clients with equine partners to provide much needed mental health and learning services.
**We are currently ONLY working with equine partners but will be adding additional animal partners to our program soon so stay tuned**

Horses are great partners as they are sensitive to the environment, non-judgmental, react to our body language, and pick up on cues making them great partners in this healing journey.

We work along with trained Licensed Mental Health Counselors to assist children, teens, and adults in this unique approach to therapy.

Stable Steps incorporates the PATH International Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) model within our Equine Services and Activities. This service ensures that all equine-assisted mental health and learning experiences are supported by a trained equine professional who prioritizes horse welfare, client safety, and intentional human-horse interaction.
The Equine Specialist collaborates with licensed mental health professionals and educators to facilitate ground-based equine activities that promote emotional growth, skill development, self-awareness, and resilience. The Equine Specialist is responsible for monitoring equine behavior, maintaining safe environments, and supporting meaningful therapeutic engagement between participants and horses.
Through adherence to PATH International standards, Stable Steps remains committed to ethical practice, safety, and excellence in equine-assisted services.

Mental health professionals affiliated with Stable Steps have completed formal training and are certified in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy through programs developed by Greg Kersten, founder of EAGALA and creator of the O.K. Corral Series. This training emphasizes a structured, experiential, and team-based approach that integrates licensed mental health practice with equine-assisted interventions.
